Annual General Meeting 2015

The OAB Annual General Meeting took place at the North Oxford Community Centre on Wednesday 9th September 2015.

Our guest speaker was Katharine Gorick, Head of the Visual Impairment Team of the Special Educational Needs Support Service, who gave an interesting and informative talk about the work of the education team with visually impaired children across Oxfordshire. She outlined the challenges, demands and rewards of working with children with varying levels of visual impairment, and explained how the team used a range of strategies to meet these, often very complex, needs.

This year, Honorary Life Member awards were handed out to:

June Bear (pictured, receiving her award from Robin Birch, Deputy Lord Lieutenant) who has been a supporter, administration volunteer and a key volunteer with the OxVic group over many years,  Carol Constable, Anthea Rowley, Veronica Quainton and Mike Warnock – all in recognition of their significant contribution to OAB and to visually impaired people.

David Warr, Chair of Trustees for the past five years, has stepped down and now takes up the position of Vice-Chair, whilst Professor Adrian Hill now becomes Chair. Two new Trustees were formally elected – George Little (Treasurer) and Yvonne Rainey.

We would like to thank all those who attended in support of our work.
