A photograph of a braille transcription machineOAB is now able to offer this service. Thanks to the support of the Roald Dahl Foundation we now have a double-sided Braille embosser that is linked to a PC.

Documents can be printed directly from MS WORD into grade two Braille. Users of this new service have already included statutory authorities and a number of OAB clients. Documents can be presented in any textual format that is recognised by MS Word. A minimal fee is charged for this service.

To use this service the guidelines are as follows:


• The information needs to be in word format using normal Arial text and font size 14.

• Do not highlight or underline the text or use italics.

• The start of paragraphs should be indicated by indenting the beginning of each paragraph by two spaces.

• Acceptable format is by disc (CD ROM) or floppy disc.

• Where applicable we can post the items to the recipient free of charge.
