Oxford Man Ben Allcock has successfully completed his massive challenge ‘Run for Oxfordshire’.
An Oxford graduate and resident, he set himself the almighty challenge of running around the county of Oxfordshire - through more than 100 towns and villages – in just nine days. That's more than 240 miles and equates or nine marathons in nine days!
The challenge ended at the new Oxford Half Marathon on Sunday September 25th at the Kassam Station were Ben was greeted by his girlfriend, father, work colleagues and friends. Speaking to BBC South Today, he said “I'm exhausted, I'm hurting in my bones, my whole legs are hurting but I've had great support and it's been a great run. It's such a good event to end it. My dad has flown over from Germany, I've got my girlfriend here, I'm a really lucky man and I know it right now".
Ben was inspired to raise money for the Future Vision project to build a new resource centre for local visually impaired people and their carers. Future Vision will provide much needed face-to-face counselling and emotional support for local visually impaired people, new services for local visually impaired children, and new courses in computing and kitchen skills for visually impaired people. Donations are still being taken.

Ben is hoping to raise at least £3,000 which will go a long way to helping to make these services happen for local people, as well as raising OAB’s profile to local individuals, corporations, and visually impaired people who aren’t yet aware of the help that is available for them.
