Three men; lots of Munros; one cause

On the 26th of January 2010, three men from Oxfordshire will begin an intrepid trek across Scotland’s West Highlands, summiting Ben Lomand and Ben Nevis as they go. Their adventure will last for 13 days, and they aim to surmount six of Scotland’s “Munros” (a mountain that peaks above 3000ft) during that time. This is all being done to raise money for the local county-charity, Oxfordshire Association for the Blind (OAB).
The trek will be led by Jason Dudley (a 20 year old NHS worker) who was inspired to take on the challenge after speaking with a blind friend at a local church that they both attend. She said that OAB were a “locally based charity who makes a big difference”. Having already raised over £1,000 in the past for Helen Douglas House, on a Lands End to John O’Groats bike ride, Jason decided that OAB were an excellent and worthy cause to do something amazing for.
Jason will be joined on his adventures by his friends Karl Jones (28 years old) and Damian Robertson (18 years old). Both Damian and Karl decided to get involved “when they heard that snow was involved”. Though none of the team have any experience of such trekking, or consider themselves especially fit, they do all have a background in charity challenges, travelling, and high adrenaline activities. They also have a mutual friend who will be advising with regards to kit and safety, as well as training them for the trip. As they say on their blog for the journey: “it’s all becoming so exciting”.
